Alternative to the Classic Grass Lawn

Almost all homes in the UK have at least one grass lawn – many have two; one at the front of the property and one at the rear. It is not just houses that are bordered by lawns but our apartment blocks, communal buildings and schools are usually surrounded by grass lawns.

It is important to maintain a good looking lawn by regular maintenance as the appearance of our gardens has a major impact as to how our family, friends, neighbours and other visitors relate to us. (“Oh – they are the losers with the overgrown garden!!” or “we have lovely neighbours with a wonderfully maintained garden”!)

Lawn maintenance can be expensive and time consuming which is why the artificial lawn has picked up in popularity over the past few years.

Until relatively recently if you didn’t have the time or money to maintain a good looking lawn your only real alternative was to use concrete, bricks or decking to cover your garden – all of these options will not give you that lush green appearance of the garden lawn. You will have a lot less real grass to look after so regular mowing, weeding and watering shouldn’t be too much of a chore. You may even have time to rotivate and sand your lawn in the autumn and then reseed it in the spring.
